DOCK LOCK CHARGE is now live in the UK

Two British companies come together for the UK’s first universal Micromobility EV docking and charging stations, taking future transport in the UK another step forward. Ginger partners with Qi Managed Services Ltd to launch multi-vehicle docking stations.

As part of Ginger's participation in the OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) funded Innovate UK programme, Virgin Park & Charge (VPACH), Ginger and Qi are first establishing the stations in Middlesbrough. This represents another first for Middlesbrough, where Ginger, the Tees Valley Combined Authority, and Middlesbrough Borough Council launched the very first e-scooter pilot in the country in July 2020.

Qi has launched its DOCK LOCK CHARGE solution (powered by Duckt), and the partners aim to roll out stations across Ginger's trial zones. The solution allows for both E-Bikes and E-Scooters to be docked and charged in the same infrastructure, which helps create a standard for Micromobility parking. This unique approach means, not only does it help mitigate street clutter but the on street charging will contribute towards a more sustainable way of charging vehicles, as well as significantly reducing the operational costs.

DOCK LOCK CHARGE’s goal is to implement a universal standard in UK&I towns and cities, working alongside local policy makers & Micromobility Operators for the implementation of a docking and charging standard for all. The solution has gained “brand ambassador” status from the British Parking Association & Department For Transport’s national Park Active strategy, with a goal of enabling active travel choices to build and maintain healthier communities.
